Assistant Clinical Nurse Manager (General)

Position Summary:

Assists the Clinical Nurse Manager in the responsibilities for the daily operational needs of the assigned area. Participates in the management of human and material resources as well as program planning and evaluation. Provides input and participates into the development and management of the budget. Provides supervision of employees, participates in hiring, assigns work, coaches, trains, evaluate performance and completes simple disciplinary actions. Actively works to ensure optimal deliver of care as well as performance improvement initiatives either through direct involvement and membership or by occasionally leading PI team efforts. Able to actively collaborate with peers, subordinates and supervisors in constructive problem solving as well as to facilitate frequent team building interactions with staff.

Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:

  • BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) degree required
  • 3 years plus of recent Registered Nurse experience in Bone Marrow Transplant and/or HCT, SCT preferred
  • Current California Registered Nurse License
  • Current American Heart Association BLS
  • OCN preferred

Position Summary:

Registered Nurses who practice in our facility are characterized by their passion and compassion. Working closely with their physician colleagues, these professionals deliver care, and are called upon to assess if a transfer from outpatient to inpatient status is advisable when intense treatment or observation placement may be required. Our facility includes care of autologous, allogeneic and matched unrelated HCT patients, and overflow hematology patients as necessary. Our facility also includes patients who are status post-auto, allogeneic or MUD transplants that have been readmitted post-transplant.

Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:

  • BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) degree required
  • 3 years plus of recent Registered Nurse experience in Bone Marrow Transplant and/or HCT, SCT preferred
  • Current California Registered Nurse License
  • Current American Heart Association BLS
  • OCN preferred

Essential Functions:

This position determines their own priorities and may deviate from established procedure and practices  as long as results meet established standards (e.g. quality, timeliness). Individuals must have the ability to influence people though the use of effective communication and facts, participates in hiring, assigning work schedules, coaching, training, completes annual performance evaluations and provides disciplinary actions as required. Is contributory in the preparation of the budget and does influence the outcomes with staffing.

Planning and Goal Setting

  • Assist in the management and implementation of departmental programs and goals that support the strategic plan for patient care services and the organization.

Patient Care and Clinical Quality

  • Support standards for patient care to assure patient care is timely, safe and effective.
  • Assure satisfaction of patients, physicians and other customers with care and services that are delivered.
  • Develop and foster collaborative relationships with other departments to support safe and high quality patient care and services.
  • Assure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Measure performance of staff to meet regulatory and patient care standards.
  • Report results of ongoing quality metrics as appropriate.
  • Promote the utilization of evidence based practice in delivery of patient care.
  • Support and facilitate critical thinking of staff.

Personnel Management

  • Participate in the hiring process.
  • Participate in orientation and staff development.
  • Foster teamwork.
  • Assist in the maintenance and monitoring of staffing plan.
  • Provide oversight of temporary (registry traveler) staff.

Fiscal and Budget

  • Assist to monitor variances

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in nursing
